Welcome...
There are plenty of places to read about telecom. Industry conferences produce decks. Vendors produce whitepapers. Trade publications produce news. What I’ve never seen enough of is the perspective from inside the operator’s seat — the actual operational reality of running an MVNO, building a wholesale carrier deal, deciding what to automate and what to leave manual, navigating a regulatory regime that nobody warned you about.
That’s the gap I want to write into.
A few things I’m planning to write about:
MVNOs, MVNEs, and MVNAs. The economics behind rate plans, the math of wholesale agreements, the operational mechanics of running a multi-carrier business, what works and what doesn’t in prepaid versus postpaid. I have opinions about all of this, formed by having to make the decisions and live with the consequences.
Automation and AI in wireless. Specifically the parts the industry isn’t talking about cleanly yet — what AI is actually doing in churn prediction, lifecycle work, customer support, and billing operations, and what realistic timelines look like versus the vendor pitch. I’ve spent the last year deep in this and want to share what I’ve learned.
The regulatory layer. Federal and State regulatory. LATAM Regulatory for Puerto Rico, USVI, the Dominican Republic, and beyond. The stuff that gets ignored in launch plans until somebody hits a wall. I’ve hit a few of those walls and have notes.
The gap between the deck and the reality. This one will be a recurring theme. The industry has a way of describing itself that often doesn’t match what’s happening on the ground. I want to write about both — the framing the industry uses, and what’s actually true underneath.
A few things I’m not going to do:
I’m not going to write product reviews, vendor comparisons, or buying guides.
